Saint-Marcel-de-Félines is a commune in the Loire department in central France.
The town is located in the township of Néronde part of the district of Roanne.
Saint Marcel Château was first a "fortified house" which existed towards the end of the 11th century. It was restored and embellished at the end of the 16th century by Jean de Talaru and then took on the appearance that we still know today. Listed as a Historic Monument for over 40 years.
A beautiful and exceptional set of stone walls and hollow tiled roof framing the castle, its 6 towers and its moats. Between two long outbuildings, a beautiful wrought iron gate that opens onto the garden. This one was recently renovated by combining a contemporary spirit and an authenticity of the 16th and 17th centuries in this type of house. You will find a lawn bowling, a maze of boxwood and following the small alleys, rooms of greenery and various sculptures. You will come to the canal restored to its original dimensions, deploying its mirror of water flush with the lawn. At the ends of this enclosure, two pavilions and a family chapel delimit the enclosure. At the edge of the wood hides a theater of greenery.
Inside the castle you will be amazed by a beautiful Renaissance courtyard, rooms covered with painted 17th century panelling representing baskets of fruit and flowers.
