Beaulieu-sur-Loire

Beaulieu-sur-Loire is a commune in the Loiret department in north-central France. It is the place of death of Jacques MacDonald, a French general who served in the Napoleonic Wars.
Beaulieu-sur-Loire is located on the borders of Burgundy and Berry, on the banks of the Loire. The history of Beaulieu goes back to the Gallo-Romans; thereafter, its history is closely linked to the canons of the Bourges cathedral chapter. From the nineteenth century, the side channel to the Loire plays an important role at the commercial level.
170 km south-east of Paris, by the RN7 or A77, exit 21, Beaulieu-sur-Loire is an ideal stop to relax, discover the nature, history, heritage and local traditions or practice recreation air.
A circuit through the city allows to discover 14 sites in the town. From the garden of the Tourist Office, visitors discover the remains of the guardhouse, the walls, the church, the town hall, some of the two hundred wells, the canal side to the Loire, the wash house... The Saint-Etienne church from the 11th and 15th century has rich furniture and a Baroque altarpiece. Visits are also organized throughout the year.

In a rural or river setting, on foot, by bike, by boat, by canoe, on horseback or in microlight, different formulas exist to cross the town.
Several hiking circuits, cycling including the Loire À Vélo are marked. Pyramidal barns, dovecote, observation site on pond or in the Loire, manual locks on the side channels to the Loire, Coteaux du Giennois vineyard are all sites to discover in the Bellocéenne countryside.
