Segré-en-Anjou Bleu, literally Segré in Blue Anjou, is a commune in the Maine-et-Loire department of western France. The municipality was established on 15 December 2016 and consists of the former communes of Aviré, Le Bourg-d'Iré, La Chapelle-sur-Oudon, Châtelais, La Ferrière-de-Flée, L'Hôtellerie-de-Flée, Louvaines, Marans, Montguillon, Noyant-la-Gravoyère, Nyoiseau, Sainte-Gemmes-d'Andigné, Saint-Martin-du-Bois, Saint-Sauveur-de-Flée and Segré. It is a subprefecture of the Maine-et-Loire department.
In the town of Segré, the Verzée flows into the Oudon.
The name "Segré" is believed to come from the latin "Secretum" which means "isolated". Segré has been inhabited from earliest. Tribes naturally settled in this fertile land if rivers and hills.
Segré was the capital of the local slate and iron mining region.
Today, it has much to offer the visitor : a picturesque situation, nestling in the valley of the river oudon, narrow, cobbled streets of houses and shops dotted along the valley and climbing precipitously towards the rocky spur, apeaceful river traversed by an ancient stone bridge, and a cascade of floral gardens tumbling down the cliff.
