Saint-Hippolyte-du-Fort is a commune in the Gard department in southern France. The town has a silk museum and barracks.

The silk museum traces the history of silk production in the Cevennes and highlights a past which forged the identity of this region from the 18th to the 20th century. (St-Hippolyte-du-Fort used to be the headquarters of the Cevenne Silk inspectors).

From the breeding of the silkworms to the production of the fabric, you can see all the stages of the creation of silk - the traditional techniques and also modern techniques used in the region today, are all on exhibition in this museum.
