Guadalupe is a municipality located in Las Villuercas comarca, province of Cáceres, in Extremadura, Spain with currently just over 2,000 inhabitants. The monastery of Santa María de Guadalupe is situated here.
The Guadalupe River has its origins near the town in the Sierra de las Villuercas. Its highest point, the Pico la Villuerca reaches an altitude of 1603 m.
The Royal Monastery of Santa María of Guadalupe (Spanish: Real Monasterio de Nuestra SeƱora de Guadalupe) is a Roman Catholic monastic establishment in Guadalupe. It is located at the foot of the eastern side of the Sierra de las Villuercas and was one of the most important and fine monasteries in the country for more than four centuries. UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site in 1993.
