Pechón, is a town in the municipality of Val de San Vicente (Cantabria, Spain). In 2008 it had a population of 218 inhabitants (INE). The town is located 70 meters above sea level, and 3 kilometers from the municipal capital, Pesués.
The population is delimited by the Ría de Tina Mayor, the mouth of the Deva River and the Ría de Tina Menor, the mouth of the Nansa River.
In summer it has a stable tourist population that has made its economy improve significantly, moving from livestock farming and seaweed extraction, as the main source of income, to the hotel and tourist services sector.
In this coastal town, in winter, the San Sebastián festivities are celebrated in the town house on January 20 and, in summer, the Santa Clara festivities (large festival) on August 11, 12 and 13.
Jesús Castro González, a former Sporting de Gijón player, died in this town, saving two children and an adult who were drowning.
