Maulds Meaburn is a spacious and beautiful village with old cottages and houses. The houses are linked by stepping stones and small bridges over the river Lyvennet. There are wide sweeps
of green and charming houses. Flass House, for example, stands in lovely grounds by the stream. Meaburn Hall, now a farm, was the home of the Lowther family until 200 years ago when the main block was re-built, but it still retains 16th century woodwork. In front of the house are traces of the extensive pleasure gardens and a bowling green, and two stone summerhouses still stand in a field close to the Hall.
Crosby Hall, a farmhouse near the church, was at one time a fortified house with moat and haunted tower, but the house has been re-built within the last 200 years...when the tower was
demolished the ghost of a white bull also vanished.
