Pfunds is a municipality in the district of Landeck in the Austrian state of Tyrol located 19.7 km south of the city of Landeck and 5 km north of the border to Switzerland. The village was first mentioned in documents in 1282. The main source of income is tourism.

The municipality of Pfunds comprises the villages of Stuben and Pfunds-Dorf, connected by a wooden bridge that has been established in 1950, as well as the seven hamlets Wand, Vorder- and Hinterkobel, Birkach, Lafairs, Stein and Greit. Since the 1980s Pfunds attaches great importance to ecological community policy, establishing solar panels, focusing on energy recovery in winter gardens as well as pollution-free heating systems with biomass and wood chips.

Those who seek adventures are at exactly the right place, as Pfunds is a stronghold for canyoning and rafting in the Inn river. A natural high-rope course in the forest completes the offer for those who seek the thrill. And thanks to its location in the tri-border region Austria-Switzerland-Italy, the municipality offers a wide variety of hiking possibilities, e.g. into the Radurschlklamm gorge, to the Fischeralm pasture with its archery center, only 4 km away from Pfunds, or to the Hohenzollernhaus refuge in the Oetztal Alps. The refuge, located at 2,123 m asl, can be reached in a 3.5-hour hike from Pfunds, and with a bit of luck and patience you can even see a marmot, ibex, eagle or griffon vulture.

Pfunds and surroundings offer lots of possibilities for winter sports: the elevated plain of Pfunds Tschey is a perfect place for cross-country skiing and snow-shoeing. Moreover there is the "Snowcard Gold", which is one skipass for four skiing areas: Bergkastel at Nauders (75 km of ski slopes), Kaunertal Glacier (24 km of ski slopes), Ried-Prutz-Fendels (10.5 km of ski slopes) and the Silvretta Arena - Ischgl ski region (239 km of ski slopes). Across the border, there are the skiing areas Bad Scoul in Switzerland and Passo Resia, located in South Tyrol/Italy. As you might notice, the variety regarding ski slopes is huge!
