Prägraten am Großvenediger is a municipality in the district of Lienz in the Austrian state of Tyrol.

It is a small village in the Virgental Valley surrounded by the majestic peaks and glaciers of the Großvenediger to the north and the Lasörling Mountains to the south.

This municipality, which stretches from the Iselschlucht gorge all the way to the end of the valley, is home to 1,170 inhabitants and is surrounded by no fewer than 50 mountains over 3,000m, including the mighty Großvenediger, at 3,657m the fourth highest mountain in Austria. The summit of the Großvenediger, which lies within the boundaries of the Hohe Tauern National Park, officially forms part of this municipality. In summer, the village's location at 1,312m makes it an excellent base for everything from easy walks to challenging hikes such as the Venediger High Alpine Trail or to the Umbalfälle waterfall near the Isel river with its walking path leading past churning whirlpools and deep gorges. Visitors looking for a relaxing day out should visit the Islitzer Mühle, an old corn mill still in operation today, or the local history museum in Oberbichl. In winter the region is popular with ski touring enthusiasts. There are also two small ski lifts on the slopes above the village.
