The lowly church of this scattered village stands on a hilltop by a lovely lane, looking away to the pyramid height of Thorpe Cloud and the long ridge of Bunster, those twin guardians of Dovedale, and to the Weaver Hills of Staffordshire.
Much of the church is of the 14th century, including the chancel and the chancel arch, but most of the windows are a century younger.
The bowl of a very old font is still here, though a 19th century one is now used. A corner of the 17th century altar table serves as a shelf in the chancel. The curious bellcote was added on the west end in 1900.
In the churchyard are an ancient yew, with widespreading branches and a trunk 16 feet round, and the old churchyard cross, now crowned by a ball.
