Neat limestone houses and trim-gardened cottages stand beside a pleasant green, the village itself set remotely among high hills.
Over looking these humbler dwellings is the imposing Parwich Hall, dating from the middle of the 18th century. It overlooks terraced gardens, which are occasionally open to the public.
The fine church of 1873, St Peter's, is in the centre of the village and incorporates the original Norman doorway and chancel arch. A Norman carving above the doorway depicts the Lamb of God, carrying a cross, a stag trampling on two serpents, a bird, a pig and a lion. Note the old Norman font with the date 1662, and which is shaped like an egg-cup.
