In the lovely valley of the Ecclesbourne, this small village is part of a golden land in spring, when hills and vale are thick with flowers. Charming ways bring us to it, but especially pleasing is the long mile from Alton Manor, a fine 19th century house in Elizabethan style, built of stone from its own estate.
The small church was built in 1855 with a distinctive tower and spire. South Sitch nearby is a well preserved house, partly timber-framed.
